ENTP: the lightning cloud

quick flashes of bold ideas

The lightning cloud is Everblue’s name for the ENTP cloud type: someone who recharges with people, leans curious, decides head first, and goes with the flow. You love a good debate and a fresh angle. You think fast, poke at assumptions, and get bored when things stay the same for too long. It’s a lens, not a diagnosis.

what lightning clouds are like

You love a good debate and a fresh angle. You think fast, poke at assumptions, and get bored when things stay the same for too long.

Lightning clouds recharge with people, ideally people who will argue back. A lively conversation that goes somewhere unexpected is about the best evening you can imagine. Your mind is curious and quick, always turning things to look at them from another side.

You decide head first, usually after testing an idea from a few directions, including some you don’t actually believe. Your rhythm goes with the flow. You’d rather improvise than follow a plan, and you’re at your best when there’s a problem nobody has solved yet.

Your strengths are invention and nerve. You spot the assumption everyone else missed, you’re not afraid to suggest the strange option, and you can make almost any topic interesting. People leave conversations with you thinking differently.

The growth edge is that not everyone hears a debate as play. What feels like friendly sparring to you can feel like criticism to someone else. It helps to check the room before arguing the other side. Finishing is the other edge: when the novelty wears off, choose a few things to see through anyway.

steady or stormy

Every cloud type comes with a weather suffix, read from how strongly your feelings move.

ENTP-Steady

feelings move through you like light weather; slow to rattle.

A steady lightning cloud takes disagreement lightly and bounces back from setbacks fast. That resilience lets you try bold things. Just remember others may still be thinking about yesterday’s argument.

ENTP-Stormy

you feel things big and deep; your weather changes, and that is part of you.

A stormy lightning cloud feels as intensely as it thinks. Big ideas and big moods can arrive together. A few lines in a journal can separate what you think from what you feel.

how lightning clouds tend to journal

Lightning clouds can find journaling slow, so prompts that feel like a good argument with yourself work best. Keep entries short, then come back later and disagree with them.

  1. 1what assumption did you poke at today, and what did you find?
  2. 2which of your opinions would you argue against for fun?
  3. 3what idea are you most excited about right now?
  4. 4which project lost its spark, and is it worth finishing anyway?
  5. 5when did a debate land harder on someone than you meant it to?
  6. 6what are you bored of, and what would make it interesting again?
  7. 7what do you actually believe, when you’re not arguing?
  8. 8what would you build if you had to stick with it for a year?

types that pair well, and types that challenge you

Just for fun. Any two clouds can get along; these are only the ones that tend to make the weather interesting.
